Alleson Buchanan founded Radiant Neon in 2018. She started in a small space in SODO, Seattle's mostly industrial neighborhood. During the pandemic, she moved Radiant to her favorite Seattle neigborhood, Belltown. In addition to custom work and repairs, we made art, invited others to learn by offering classes, workspace, and services to process neon artwork. We've been fortunate to work with dozens of students and hundreds of curious visitors. In the Spring of 2023, Alleson chose to pivot - focusing solely on her art practice and downsized the business side of Radiant Neon.

In 2024 we rebuilt Radiant on Vashon Island! Imagine taking a scenic ferry ride to your Neon Night Out, a date for any duo. We are still working out the details, so stay tuned for more about our next chapter.
Alleson Buchanan
Bender and Boss Lady
Alleson Buchanan is a full-time neon glass bender based on Vashon Island. She was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She’s lived on both coasts and visited all but 6 US states but she always finds her way back to the PNW. She’s a queer Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) who became a full time artist because she craves deep meaning in everything she does. She founded Radiant Neon in 2018, where she creates her body of work and teaches the occasional neon class.
Alleson brings playful intensity to everything she does and has a very research oriented art practice. Her work has strong emphases on astrology, mythology, tarot, intersectional feminism, and racial and social justice.
Alleson holds an MFA in Arts Leadership from Seattle University. She is a member of the Glass Art Society, and the first all womxn neon collective, She Bends. She is a founding member of the Neon Makers Guild. When she’s not making neon she’s either thrifting, playing with her pups or co-hosting her podcast, Neon Nonsense.
